What is PE Reveal?
PE Reveal is a free consumer resource that tracks private equity and corporate ownership of businesses across the United States. We focus on sectors where PE ownership directly affects everyday consumers — starting with veterinary care.
Private equity is buying America's businesses at an accelerating pace. Most PE-owned companies don't advertise this fact. A veterinary clinic that sounds like a local neighborhood practice may in fact be one of thousands owned by a private equity firm operating under financial pressure to maximize returns.
We believe consumers have a right to know who owns the businesses they use. PE Reveal makes that information accessible, free, and sourced.
Where we stand
PE Reveal is an independent, non-affiliated research project. We don't take money from private equity firms, their competitors, or any advocacy organization on either side of the debate.
We report documented facts — who owns what, when they acquired it, what regulators have said, and where the information comes from. We believe ownership transparency is a public good, and we won't pretend otherwise. Consumers deserve to know who owns the businesses they depend on. What they do with that information is entirely up to them.
We apply the same standard to all ownership structures — private equity, family conglomerates, publicly traded companies, and everything in between. If it affects consumers and can be documented, it belongs in the database.
Data policy
Disclaimer: This database is for informational purposes only. Ownership structures change frequently. PE Reveal makes every effort to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee all entries are current or complete. Always verify with primary sources before making decisions based on this information.
Every entry must have at least one cited source — an SEC filing, FTC document, official PE firm portfolio page, or credible news report. Entries are tagged as Verified, Reported, or Community. All entries older than 12 months are flagged for re-verification.
